MorningStar at RidgeGate Offers Luxury Senior Living

July 23, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

Several studies have shown that most seniors who move into senior living communities say they prefer it to living alone.  A Place for Mom reports that “while many seniors want to age at home as long as they can, research shows that senior communities may be the healthier option; especially after a spouse passes away.”  Also, seniors are often unaware of the wide range of services and amenities available at an independent or assisted living community.

When a senior lives alone, they can become isolated, especially if they have stopped driving.  In addition, trying to maintain a house can be difficult for aging adults.  Housekeeping chores, preparing meals, and going up and down stairs can be challenging for the elderly.  Another problem faced by seniors who live alone is the fear of falling.  Having no one around to help in the case of an emergency can be scary as well as life-threatening. And for those needing some help with the activities of daily living, assisted living is a good solution for all these issues.

If you or a loved one are considering independent or assisted living in Highlands Ranch, CO area, we encourage you to learn more about MorningStar at RidgeGate.  Our attractive five-story building has stylish suites including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans. Apartments feature high ceilings, fireplace, washer/dryer, handicapped-accessible bathroom and emergency call system. Weekly housekeeping and linen service is provided.

Our luxury community offers all the services, amenities, programs and activities to ensure residents a lifestyle of comfort, wellness and security.   Starting with a five-star dining service that includes meals prepared largely from scratch using the freshest ingredients, restaurant-style dining and private dining rooms; we have bistro bars, a salon, swimming pool and fitness center.  Other amenities include an art studio, theaters, underground parking and relaxing outdoor areas as well as scheduled transportation.

MorningStar at RidgeGate offers the kind of senior living area families count on.  Along with independent and assisted living, we provide memory care in our Reflections Neighborhood for those with Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related diseases. In addition, we offer respite care, (short recuperative stays) and trial stays to see if we are a good fit.  Please contact us or visit our website to set up a tour.

Lifestyle Factors Linked to a Longer, Healthier Life

June 25, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

During the last several years, researchers have studied the steps we can take to improve longevity. Their overwhelming findings point to a healthy diet, exercise and strong social ties; and who of us does not want to live longer and enjoy better health along the way? The Medical News Today states, “Making healthy choices around these three factors may be key to living the long, fulfilling lives we strive for, and since it is never too late to start making positive changes, now is as good a time as any to make health a top priority.”

They cite key factors to help achieve this goal. The first regards diet, which includes eating less red meat and avoiding salt. They recommend a Mediterranean diet as it is mostly plant-based and relies on minimally processed ingredients and healthy fats. It consists of whole grains, fruits and vegetables; beans and legumes, fatty fish, seeds and nuts. Experts say the diet can help lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Next on the list to help you live longer and healthier is exercise, and it doesn’t mean having to become a marathon runner or train for hours each day. Experts say taking a daily walk can improve longevity and is safe for older adults. In fact, Ryan Glatt, CPT, NBC-HWC, a senior brain health coach and director of the FitBrain Program at Pacific Neuroscience Institute at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, CA, who was not involved in the study, told MNT that “the benefits are most significant for individuals who are inactive, as even small increases in physical activity substantially reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases and premature death.”

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) recommends adults exercise at least 150 minutes a week spread out over several days. Other healthy exercises include swimming, cycling, aerobic exercise and strength training as well as flexibility exercises.

You may be wondering how a good social life will help you live longer but the proof is in a number of studies that say staying social can help a person not only live longer but be healthier. Researchers explain adults who say they feel lonely and isolated have a higher risk of chronic diseases, depression and early death as well as an increase in the risk of stroke.

Children May Struggle to Understand Dementia

April 21, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

When a grandparent or another close family member or friend suffers from Alzheimer’s or another dementia-related disease, it can be difficult for children to understand, especially if they are very close to the person.  Most likely they have questions and concerns regarding the disease and may be struggling with a range of emotions including sadness and confusion. They may not know how to act around the person anymore or be frightened by the “strange behavior.”

Having grandma or grandpa call you by mom or dad’s name or asking the same question again and again are just some of the strange things kids see happening to a beloved grandparent. They may worry Alzheimer’s is contagious and it is important they know it isn’t but rather a degenerative disease that happens in the brain. If the person lives with them, they may be embarrassed to have friends around due to the person’s behavior, and sometimes children withdraw from the person or lose patience.

The Alzheimer’s Association suggests sitting down with your child and telling them while the person may forget your name, they can still feel your love. Encourage questions and provide honest answers, and perhaps together you can learn more about the disease. The experts offer ideas on things kids can do with the person such as listening to music, setting the table, working on a puzzle, reading a book or looking at family photos. As the person’s disease progresses, make sure your kids feel comfortable asking more questions. Regardless of how old we are, losing a loved one to Alzheimer’s disease is challenging for everyone.

Along with independent living and assisted living, MorningStar at RidgeGate in Lone Tree, Colorado offers 29 suites for the individualized care of those with memory impairment. Every aspect of our Reflections Neighborhood is geared toward residents’ care from meaningful activities, trained caregivers, food service, security and more. If your loved one is living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia-related disease, they deserve the best care. Please visit our website to learn more about trusted senior living at MorningStar.

Personality Changes Associated with Dementia

March 17, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

We know a person changes in several ways when living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. Memory problems and confusion are some of the most commonly known symptoms, but there are other behaviors just as common that can be unsettling and disruptive. The Medical News Today reports on the various behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia known as BPSDs.

Research suggests as many as 97% of people with dementia have one or more of the following symptoms: agitation; anxiety, psychosis, depression, apathy, irritability and/or physical or verbal aggression. Agitation may include behaviors such as pacing, wandering, restlessness and fidgeting. Repetitive movements and sleep disturbances are also common. Understanding these changes and learning strategies to deal with them can result in better care for the patient and make it easier for caregivers to cope.

Doctors are not sure why dementia patients suffer from psychosis but suggest it could be due to interruptions and changes to neurotransmitters such as dopamine, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and serotonin. Along with these interferences to brain waves, many dementia patients also suffer from poor memory and impaired visuospatial abilities, which can confuse the person as to what is real and what isn’t.

Sleep disturbances can come in the form of hypersomnia with symptoms of reversed sleep-wake patterns and fragmented sleep. Another problem can be rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder. To help combat sleep disturbances, experts recommend limiting naps during the daytime and exposing the person to daylight (especially morning light) and getting physical exercise.

If you are a family caregiver, it is important to reach out and get help. The Alzheimer’s Association is a good resource for both information and support as is the person’s healthcare team.

Along with assisted living, MorningStar at Jordan provides individualized care for those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Our memory care is based on our extensive knowledge and experience with dementia-related diseases and we support residents from the early onset of the disease through the final stages. Consult Your Physician if You Have Concerns About Memory Loss

March 05, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

The Alzheimer’s Association recommends that anyone worried about memory loss make an appointment with their health care provider.  While we all know it is scary just thinking about the possibility of having Alzheimer’s or another dementia-related disease, the Alzheimer’s Association has a list of reasons why it is to your advantage to know.

The process for getting a diagnosis starts with a full evaluation with a healthcare provider that includes your medical history and any medications you are taking as well as a series of mental status tests.  If the initial evaluation indicates problems, your doctor will recommend further physical and neurological exams, diagnostic tests and brain imaging.

The top reason to be evaluated for Alzheimer’s is an early diagnosis gives you a better chance of benefiting from treatment.  If it is determined you have Alzheimer’s, experts explain that while there is no cure for the disease, there are medications that “demonstrate removing beta-amyloid, one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease, from the brain reduces cognitive and functional decline in people living with early Alzheimer’s.”  Other treatment options can lessen the symptoms, including memory loss and confusion, for a limited time.

An early diagnosis also means you may be eligible for clinical trials that could provide some medical benefit.  In addition, recent research suggests that certain lifestyle changes such as “controlling blood pressure, stopping smoking, participating in exercise, and staying mentally and socially active, may help preserve cognitive function.”

Another important consideration is the additional time an earlier diagnosis will give you to plan for your future and to do things now, rather than wait.  Planning for the future also helps family members know what your wishes are and prevents future feelings of guilt or arguments over your care.  The Alzheimer’s Association adds that an early diagnosis can save your family and the U.S. Government money spent on care.

Along with assisted living, Boulder, CO’s MorningStar community provides holistic memory care in our Reflections Neighborhood for those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. With activities, programs and meal services tailored to our residents’ special needs, we bring a deep understanding of the disease to our care.  Please contact us or visit our website for more information about trusted senior living at MorningStar of Boulder.

Consider Exploring a New Hobby or Interest

February 21, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

How long has it been since you really made the effort to learn something new? As we age, many of us can get stuck in a rut. However, opening our minds to new ideas and trying new activities can provide seniors with a renewed interest in life and help keep the brain sharp.

The choice of hobbies and activities for retirees is endless and includes dusting off old skills or learning something entirely new. Things like painting and drawing classes can be done in person or online. The same goes for listening to lectures, joining a book club or writing workshop, and learning a foreign language. If you need more computer skills or would like to know more about social media, join a class and get started.

If you have always wanted to play an instrument, what are you waiting for? Neuroscientists and music teachers say it is never too late to learn. Scot Hawkins, a piano teacher in Silver Spring, Md., says, “Ability is low on the list of what’s required for adult students. Instead, attitude — especially patience — is everything.” Playing music is a great mental exercise and can help keep brain cells alive that would otherwise wither and die.

Chess, trivia, crossword and jigsaw puzzles as well as strategy board games help sharpen our cognitive skills as do various computer and video games. Other suggestions of engaging activities include trips to local museums, concerts, and plays.

Have you begun the search for independent or assisted living in Highlands Ranch, CO area? If so, we encourage you to consider MorningStar at RidgeGate in Lone Tree.  Our calendar helps residents live life to the fullest with a wide range of activities and wellness programs including exercise classes, games, live entertainment and special events. Robot Designed for People with MCI

January 08, 2025 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

CARMEN, which is short for Cognitively Assistive Robot for Motivation and Neurorehabilitation, is a small, tabletop robot designed to help people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).  Recently the University of California introduced the world to CARMEN to help people learn skills to improve memory, attention, and executive functioning at home.

What sets CARMEN apart from other robots is it was created in partnership with clinicians, people with MCI and their care providers. Researchers say they think the robot is one of a kind in terms of teaching compensatory cognitive strategies designed to improve memory and executive function.

Experts estimate MCI affects up to 20% of adults 65 years or older, and of that number, 15% of people with the condition transition to dementia each year. Scientists say while we currently do not have medical treatments to slow or prevent this from happening, behavioral treatments can help.

Working one-on-one with individuals, CARMEN delivers a series of simple, easy-to-do cognitive training exercises. One example is teaching users to create routine places to leave important objects like keys, cellphone and other commonly misplaced items. CARMEN also emphasizes strategies such as taking notes to remember things.

The learning process is accomplished through a set of interactive games and activities designed to be done independently without the help of a clinician’s or researcher’s supervision. This meant the robot was built as a plug and play device without a lot of parts requiring maintenance. CARMEN was also designed to function with limited access to the Internet and not depend on a reliable connection. The robot also expresses empathy and compassion for the person’s situation as well as communicates clearly.

Early results with CARMEN had participants reporting the learned strategies helped them feel more confidence in their everyday life, and they were now willing to attempt things they had previously stopped doing. Researchers say the hope is to get more robots in the hands of users and fine-tune the robot to address even more issues for people with MCI and other conditions such as ADHD.

Are You Concerned About a Loved One’s Memory Loss?

December 04, 2024 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

It is worrisome to notice changes in a spouse, parent or another loved one’s health. If those changes involve the person’s memory, thinking or behavior, it can be hard to know what to say or do. The Alzheimer’s Association explains while you may be unsure on how to best approach the issue, these changes could be a sign of a significant health concern. They offer the following advice on how to sort through the changes.

The first thing is to think about what is causing your concern and how out of the norm is it for the person? Then consider what else may be going on in the person’s life such as changes in their physical health or other stress factors that could impact their mental state. Remember depression and diabetes can cause changes in a person’s mental acuity.

Now take a look at the Alzheimer’s Association’s 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s and other dementia diseases. Do these common signs seem to be in line with the type of things you are worrying about? If they do, you may want to enlist some help from other trusted family members or friends.

Start by asking them if they too have noticed any changes in the person’s behavior. If there is an agreement on something being amiss, experts say it is best if one or two people are selected for the task of discussing the problem with the person as a crowd may be too threatening.

Good conversation starters can be something like, “I have noticed some changes in you, is everything okay?,” or use a specific example of something troubling you have noticed the person doing. Offer to go to the doctor’s with the person; and if the first talk is not productive, try again. Keep in mind, the Alzheimer’s Association’s website has a lot of resources and support so take advantage of the help.

MorningStar of Boulder is proud to offer compassionate care for those in the early onset of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia right through to the most advanced stages.  Every aspect of our distinct Reflections Neighborhood is geared toward residents’ care from meaningful activities, trained caregivers, food service, security and more.  Please contact us or visit our website for more information about trusted memory care or senior living in Boulder, CO.

Regular Socialization is Beneficial for Older Adults

October 18, 2024 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

A UCSF Division of Geriatrics study found 43 percent of seniors report regularly experiencing loneliness. Mayo clinic psychologist, Dr. Craig Sawchuk, Ph.D., explains why this can be a problem. He says as “social animals by nature; we tend to function better when we’re in a community setting and being around others.”

Several studies report a link between social isolation and an increased risk of disease, including one from the Academy of Science, which found loneliness can lead to higher rates of poor physical and mental health. Health concerns for isolated adults include hypertension, coronary artery disease, cardiac failure, depression, anxiety and Alzheimer’s disease.

It becomes harder for seniors who live alone to socialize as they get into their upper 70s or 80s as many stop driving and/or suffer from chronic health problems affecting their mobility. Other contributing issues to loneliness in the elderly may include the death of a spouse or close family members and friends.

To emphasize how important socialization is for older adults, the American Public Health Association explains the most effective way for seniors to improve their health is to increase socialization. They report “socialization improves mood, cognition, memory recall, and is associated with healthy behaviors, including exercise.”

At MorningStar at RidgeGate, our goal is to promote physical, intellectual, spiritual and social wellbeing. We provide everything seniors need for quality of life and to age in place safely and comfortably. Along with care and hospitality services, our signature wellness programs and activities are designed to engage and encourage residents to live fully productive lives.

In addition to independent living and assisted living, we offer memory care, respite care (short recuperative stays) or trial stays (up to a full month) so you can see if we are a good fit. Please contact us today for more information about MorningStar’s senior living in Lone Tree, Colorado.

Add Protein to Breakfast to Keep Energy and Blood Sugar Levels Stable

July 17, 2024 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

How many times have you eaten breakfast, and after an hour or two, you start to feel hungry? Many breakfast options involve foods such as cereals, breads and granola bars that are high in refined grains and sugar. To solve the problem, nutritionists say you should add protein to every meal including your breakfast.

“Making sure you eat protein with breakfast – and making sure you eat breakfast in general – can give you the nourishment and energy you need to take on the day, says Amity Lui, a sports dietitian at Worksite Wellness Nutrition in New York City.”  Lui explains eating regularly throughout the day will make it easier to meet your protein needs and keep energy and blood sugar levels stable.  Lui recommends “aiming for about 15 to 20 grams – or more – protein per meal, or 10 to 15 grams per snack. Exact amounts depend on age, activity level and gender.”

One suggestion for an easy-to-do, protein-rich breakfast is avocado and fried egg on a bagel or enriched whole-grain slice of toast. Omelets are also fairly easy and can be assembled with a variety of fillings such as mushrooms, spinach and bacon. You can increase the protein in a bowl of oatmeal by adding a scoop of protein powder and topping it with almond milk and berries. Try other creative options such as smoked salmon on a toasted whole wheat English muffin spread with cream cheese, or a Greek yogurt parfait layered with granola, nuts, and fruit.  Nutritionists say another incentive for eating protein in the morning is it may help you lose weight as you feel more satisfied for a longer period.

Increase Happiness by Practicing Gratitude

July 01, 2024 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

While studies find feeling grateful can make us happier and less anxious; like every skill, it does take some practice. An article at CNN.com explains gratitude should not be saved for special occasions, but like love, should be practiced or expressed regularly. With a little effort, you should be able to find something to be grateful for every day.

Experts share four ways to help you practice gratitude. The first is to create a gratitude album on your phone by taking a picture each day of things that bring you joy like a meaningful text, beautiful scenery, fun events on your calendar and pics of loved ones. Don’t worry about your photography skill. Now instead of scrolling through social media, use some of that time to look through your own gratitude album and appreciate the good things in your life.

Another gratitude practice is to take the time to breathe. Mindful breathing techniques can help relieve tension and reduce stress, and only take a few minutes. When doing, remember to be thankful for your breathing, which is a life-sustaining force. Combine breathing with feelings of gratitude and patience as you strive to feel relaxed and calm. The Internet offers several methods for practicing breathing techniques.

Expressing gratitude to someone each day by thanking them for their support and/or love are other ways to feel gratitude. Studies show it helps to build a better relationship between two people who routinely express or receive gratitude from their partner.

Lastly experts say end your day by feeling grateful. One practice is to think of three things you are grateful for and write them down in a notebook or piece of paper. They do not have to be big “things” but just something that makes you feel happy. When you wake in the morning, read over your three things and take a few moments to reflect on them.

MorningStar Senior Living at RidgeGate Offers Lifestyle Options

April 01, 2024 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

If you are an active senior who can live on your own but would like convenient access to amenities and hospitality services, independent living is perfect for you.  Senior independent living communities offer residents the freedom to enjoy their retirement years without being tied down with yard care and other routine chores that need to be done when owning a home.

At assisted living communities, residents get help with daily personal care and are provided with an array of amenities, services and 24-hour supervision.  Generally a community assesses in-coming residents to determine the level of assistance needed that is agreeable to the senior and their extended family.

For seniors who still feel comfortable managing their own personal care for now but worry things could change in the future, communities such as MorningStar at RidgeGate are the answer.  Our community offers both independent and assisted living as well as specialized memory care. If down the road, you feel you need more assistance than our independent living offers, you will have priority to one of our assisted living or memory care suites.

MorningStar at RidgeGate provides all the services, resort-style amenities, and programs to promote a healthy, engaged lifestyle.   Starting with a five-star dining service that includes meals prepared largely from scratch using the freshest ingredients, restaurant-style dining and a private dining room, we have onsite salons, theatres, art studios and more.  Other amenities include club and game rooms, fitness center, community store and saline swimming pool as well as scheduled transportation.

Taking Medications Safely

September 08, 2023 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

Every year seniors are hospitalized due to prescribed medications. Statistics show drug-related problems are common in older adults and include drug ineffectiveness, adverse drug effects, over-dosage, under-dosage, inappropriate treatment, inadequate monitoring, nonadherence, and drug interactions. It is important to remember even though medication is prescribed by your healthcare provider, problems can occur.

Experts say you must follow directions and take medications as prescribed including on time, in the right dosage, with or without food, and never grinding it into a powder (unless directed by the doctor). They recommend carrying an updated list of all medications and sharing it with your doctors. Additionally, be aware of common interactions between prescribed drugs and over-the-counter medications and alcoholic drinks.

Before your doctor prescribes a new medication, ask them why you are taking it, for how long and what are the potential side effects. It is important to know what to look for and to discuss the benefits versus any negative or dangerous consequences. You will want to know, for example, if a drug will make you drowsy so you know not to drive under its influence.

Another thing to safeguard your health is to review your medications with your doctor on a regular basis asking questions such as: do you still need to take it, is the dosage correct, and is there a non-drug alternative? Despite your faith in your medical team, it is not a bad idea to check your medications against the American Geriatric Society’s “2023 American Geriatrics Society Beers Criteria for Potentially Inappropriate Medication Use in Older Adults.” The online site lists medications that may be inappropriate or dangerous for seniors.

The Link Between Your Diet and Immune System

June 09, 2023 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

Over the last several years, we have seen firsthand the benefit of having a robust immune system, which is vital to helping resist and combat diseases and illnesses, and a healthy diet plays a role in the proper functioning of our immune system. While food alone doesn’t directly boost the immune system, experts explain “a well-rounded diet can help prevent nutrient deficiencies that can hinder immune function, which in turn helps to ensure our immune system functions smoothly.”

We all need certain vitamins and minerals for our immune cells to grow and function; and nutrient-dense foods help protect our bodies in the event of an invasion of bacteria, fungi or viruses. Likewise there are foods known to be harmful to the immune system.

Alcoholic beverages are one of those things. If you do drink, it is recommended you limit your daily intake to no more than 12 oz. of beer, 5 oz. of wine and 1.5 oz. of liquor. Another thing to avoid is caffeinated foods or beverages too close to bedtime; and overall the FDA recommends no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine daily.

Foods high in sugar and salt should also be avoided as well as fast food and processed foods loaded with empty calories, fat and sodium that offer little in the way of needed vitamins and minerals. Dairy products can be problematic for some individuals and lead to inflammation, which in turn affects the immune system. Experts say another good rule is to avoid snack treats with lots of food additives, colorings, and preservatives, which are associated with inflammation, and weaken the immune system.

At MorningStar at Jordan, we recognize that good nutrition is important to the wellbeing of seniors. Residents enjoy seasonal menus that are prepared largely from scratch and feature the freshest ingredients from high-quality producers, locally sourced when possible.  Meals are also modified to include an array of low sodium, sugar free, no sugar added, vegetarian and low-fat choices for residents to self-manage.

Our beautiful community offers 55 stylish suites for assisted living and another 29 suites devoted to the individualized care of residents with Alzheimer’s or other dementia-related diseases.  If you are considering senior living communities in the Denver area, we encourage you to contact us to set up a tour.

Does an Elderly Parent or Loved One Need More Care?

April 12, 2023 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

Most seniors wish to maintain their independence as long as possible by living on their own; and that is why many who encounter problems in their day-to-day lives are reluctant to tell their families. The problem with this is as a senior starts to have more difficulty caring for themselves, their quality of life can be greatly diminished.

Even if mom or dad seem to be doing well on their own, experts say a rapid decline in their health from an accident or illness can catch families by surprise and make living on their own dangerous. In addition, many health conditions affect musculoskeletal, neurological, circulatory or sensory systems and impact a senior’s ability to perform the activities of daily living (ADLs). Experts say other factors indicating a need for more help include social isolation, medication side effects and the physical characteristics of the person’s home such as a second-floor bedroom. If after implementing a series of home modifications is not adequate, more measures need to be taken to keep your loved one safe.

Experts explain unmet ADLs can lead to serious health problems including “malnutrition, poor personal hygiene, isolation, illnesses like urinary tract infections (UTIs) and falls. In fact, studies show ADL disabilities are associated with an increased risk for mortality; and taking care of daily needs can help prevent new and worsening health problems.” They also report if family members notice a decline in a loved one’s overall health, taking steps now can improve their safety and forestall further problems. One solution is to make a move to a senior living community, where a person can live as safely and as independently as possible. To ensure needs are met, homes use the ADLs as a measure of a person’s functional performance.

MorningStar at Jordan was designed to provide carefree retirement years. From healthy daily meals to wellness programs and activities, we have a whole range of services and amenities to ensure residents comfort and wellbeing.  Our care services include care managers, access to licensed nurses, and medication care managers.  Please contact us or visit our website for more information about senior living or memory care at MorningStar.

At MorningStar at Jordan, Our Goal is to Give Residents the Best Quality of Life

April 05, 2023 by MorningStar Senior Living in Senior Living

At MorningStar Jordan, our first and foremost priority is to give residents the best quality of life possible by offering a lifestyle of comfort, wellness and security. Recognizing seniors as heroes, we acknowledge all the triumphs and challenges they have faced throughout their lives and consider serving them to be our life’s calling – our privilege. Thus we feel honored to receive praise regarding our home and our care from residents and their families. The following are a few examples.

One son of a resident wrote in a Google review that wanted to take a moment to recognize MorningStar at Jordan for their love and care. He adds, “My father recently passed away, but he was able to reside here for the last couple of years of his life. They provided a true community environment. He formed many friendships and stayed active. As his need for care increased, so did the attention and support of the staff. They made sure he was able to remain with familiar, caring faces the whole time. There are people in this world like Nick, Brad, Jackie, Octavia (and others) that give so much of themselves... and my family will forever be grateful for them. Thank you MorningStar for the care and love.”

In another Google review, a daughter describes her experience with MorningStar. “My mom has been living at Morning Star Jordan since it first opened. She is truly so happy and loves her caretakers like family. I do not worry when I am not there, as she is always looked after and cared for by the amazing staff. Morning Star is a wonderful community and we are so lucky to be a part of it!”

A son tells his journey with his mother over the last couple of years in his Google review. He says, “I moved my mom from Portland, Oregon in August of 2021 and Morningstar at Jordan is the 3rd assisted facility she has lived in. The staff has been wonderful through the transition, getting to know her (and her very specific needs), and now she's already at a point that I can only say has been overwhelmingly incredible - for her and me.”  He goes on to describe the difficulties his mother has had since her stroke and finishes by saying “Most importantly, I see the change in her demeanor, actions and willingness to engage with others (for the first time since her stroke). My most heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire team at Morningstar Jordan for what they do....all have my greatest respect.”

MorningStar at Jordan is conveniently located in a southern suburb of Denver, and we offer a choice of 55 private assisted living suites with spacious floor plans.  In addition, our Reflections Neighborhood has 29 suites devoted to the individualized care of residents with memory impairment.
